Who is the Iron Patriot?

whoistheironpatriot1 This year in comics is a ‘glass-half-empty’ situation as this is the year that evil wins.

DC Comics has its Final Crisis and Marvel has the Skrull’s Secret Invasion that has been tearing across the company’s monthly titles. Each event promises that the conclusion will not be a pleasant one as the DC Universe buckles under the heel of Darkseid and the Marvel Universe will be under Skrull rule.

That said, what could this image leaked by Marvel Comics mean?

With Captain America dead and Tony Stark no longer the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. (will there even be such an organization after the Skrull Secret Invasion is over?), both characters are not possible options for the man under the silhouette.

Part of a ‘Dark Avengers’ line, the Iron Patriot will more likely than not be only the first in a line of such characters posing as sinister versions of the popular super heroes.

Given that the Secret Invasion series will not end until mid-December, fans will have to remain patient for answers.

So… my money is on Andreas von Strucker (Swordsman of the Thunderbolts).

I think that it could be Norman Osborn. He creates a suit like Iron Man’s, but out of Oscorp tech, as a big middle finger to Stark.

But Swordsman? It’s an idea. I never thought of that, but also he can’t stand working with Osborn or Moonstone whom I believe to be on the Dark Avengers too. If that’s the case, if Osborn’s not Iron Patriot (then he’s the leader), I don’t think that Swordsman would stay on the team.
