Lots of details are coming in on the forthcoming Avengers movie set for Summer 2012.
The following contains spoilers but only mild ones that are still only rumor…
The details I have gleaned from various sources concern the Skrulls as the threat the prompts the formation of the Avengers. The film will see our heroes united to fight a horde of invading shape-shifting aliens intent on global conquest. The set images showing Chris Evans as Captain America fighting stunt men in CGi-ready suits supports this as does the very alien-looking raygun held by a member of the crew and Evans.
There is talk of the post credit sting of the Avengers movie revealing that Nick Fury was secretly replaced by a Skrull, leading to more developments in the inevitable sequel. While it’s a cool idea, I doubt the validity of this rumor as it would stretch the Skrull story into two films rather than introducing a new enemy for the second installment.
