The first five releases for 2012 have been announced for the classic Doctor Who range of DVDs from 2Entertain. A wide assortment of stories, mainly focused on the eras of the third and fourth Doctors. As the Fifth and Sixth eras have been released in their entirety, there remains only a few stories to be made available until the all of the complete stories will be on DVD… then what will I do?
Several other classics have been slated for release later in 2012 including The Planet of the Giants, The Krotons, Death to the Daleks, Terror of the Zygons, Nightmare of Eden, Dragonfire, The Happiness Patrol, and The Greatest Show in the Galaxy.
Still unplaced are a few problematic stories:
- The Tenth Planet (3/4 episodes exist)
- The Ice Warriors (4/6 episodes exist)
- The Ambassadors of Death (requires extensive restoration)
- The Mind of Evil (currently exists in black and white only)
Reign of Terror has already been confirmed for a 2012 release with an animated portion to fill in the missing fourth and fifth episodes. The discovery of two previously missing episodes has prompted the packaging of a second ‘Lost in Time’ collection. Perhaps other stories missing all of their installments such as The Ice Warriors and Tenth Planet will round out that set?
