The final stretch of episodes for Star Wars: The Clone Wars are upon us, with the galaxy-spanning conflict now taking place on Mandalore.
In a clip from the seventh and final season’s 10th episode, titled “The Phantom Apprentice,” Ashoka Tano and Clone Commander Rex arrive at the aftermath of a disastrous ambush. There, Ahsoka learns from a gravely wounded Clone Trooper that Maul cut through his unit before taking a hostage and departing into the capital city’s underbelly.
Part 1 of the “Siege of Mandalore” arc saw Ahsoka rejoin the Jedi Order, reunited with her mentor Anakin Skywalker. However, while Anakin left to help Obi-Wan Kenobi drive back a Separatist attack from the planet Coruscant, he tasked his apprentice with helping the Republic liberate Mandalore from Maul’s forces.
Streaming on Disney+, the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars stars Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker, Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano, Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex and the clone troopers, James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan and Sam Witwer as Maul. New episodes arrive every Friday.

Meet Star Wars newest villain, Agent Kallus
Set between Episodes III and IV (that’s Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope to you and me), Star Wars: Rebels is the latest animated series carrying on the legacy started way back in 1977 when my eyes first opened to witness the brilliance of blaster fire. The animated series will build on the success of The Clone Wars (currently screening its sixth season exclusively on Netflix), Rebels will take up the mantle of the Star Wars legacy.

Agent Kallus, one of the Empire’s leading enforcers in the upcoming Star Wars Rebels animated series, is a major threat for the Ghostcrew’s small band of heroes.
Revealed here in this special behind-the-scenes video, Kallus is an Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) agent. According to David Oyelowo, who plays Agent Kallus, he’s ruthless, unforgiving, and an example of the Empire’s tyranny. “His job,” says Oyelowo, “is to basically make sure everyone stays loyal. And anyone who gives a whiff of disloyalty has to be cut out. So, I guess you could safely say he’s a bad guy.”
Lucasfilm’s Carrie Beck, director of creative content strategy, thinks Oyelowo is more than convincing as Kallus. “David brings a voice that is very authoritative and very commanding and very cool,” she says, “without betraying any sense of insecurity or weakness.” As seen in the video’s concept art and animation, Kallus wears classic gray Imperial military attire along with a threatening helmet for field missions, and has distinct angled facial hair.
According to art director Kilian Plunkett, “He’s pretty literally a rebel hunter. His whole task is to investigate any sort of instance of local insurgency and see if it’s the beginnings of what could become a rebellion.” Moreover, he’s ambitious, and sees any victory over rebels as something he can use to climb the ranks of the Empire. Kallus is not in the position to command a fleet of Star Destroyers, adds executive producer Dave Filoni. Kallus is on the ground, leading stormtroopers in face-to-face battles against anti-Imperial groups — and his combat skills are impressive, including the use of a modified version of Zeb’s honor guard staff.
“I don’t know that Kallus would think that what he’s doing is really evil,” Filoni says. “He’s just doing his job for the Empire, and he believes in the Empire…So, Kallus — definitely an interesting character and one to watch out for. Especially if you’re a rebel.”
Star Wars Rebels coming soon
Just after I wrote about the sixth series of Clone Wars, I started to find material on Rebels, a cartoon that failed to set my sock on fire when I first read of it. However, the videos which recently hit the web have changed my mind for the better.
Set between Episodes III and IV (Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope to you and me), the latest animated Star Wars series takes a very different approach to its predecessor and follows the rebellion. With Dave Filoni (Clone Wars), Greg Weismann (Young Justice) and Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class and the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII spin-off) on hand as executive producers, this should be an outstanding cartoon worth checking out. Details have been slowly coming through (toys have debuted giving fans an idea of what they will see) but now we have three character-centric videos that offer up much more information.

Star Wars The Clone Wars is back for a sixth season!
A universe at war, the future of the Republic hangs in the balance as the Separatist Army seeks nothing short of total domination. Filling in the space between episodes and 4, the Clone Wars cartoon has been a tour de force for the Star Wars mythology. Each season grew more ambitious and expansive than what came before. After five years, the program came to an end… until today.

Almost a year ago it was announced that the popular Cartoon Network animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars was being cancelled, and that a new animated series was being planned. The new series was later revealed as Star Wars Rebels, which will begin airing on Disney XD in the fall of this year (watch the teaser trailer here).
It seemed as if we had heard the last of The Clone Wars, but not so fast. Out of nowhere, it has been announced that a sixth and final season of the series is still on the way.
Season six of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will not air on Cartoon Network, however. Instead, the entire 13-episode final season will be released on Netflix on March 7th.
Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos had this to say about the announcement:
“Stars Wars is one of the most iconic franchises of all time and this series joins a long line of Disney content that Netflix members are and will continue to enjoy for years to come. The Clone Wars marks an important moment as Netflix welcomes more and more first-run content from The Walt Disney Company and its subsidiaries.”
In addition to the new season, previous seasons of the show will also be added, as well as multiple director’s cut episodes that have never been aired before.

NEW ANIMATED SERIES STAR WARS REBELS COMING FALL 2014

Production has begun on Star Wars Rebels, an exciting, all-new animated television series based on one of the greatest entertainment franchises of all time. Scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, it will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.
Leading the development of the series is a creative team of exceptional talent. Screenwriter/producer Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class,Sherlock Holmes, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) is an executive producer on Star Wars Rebels and will write the premiere episode. He is joined by Dave Filoni as executive producer, who served as supervising director of the Emmy nominated Star Wars: The Clone Wars since 2008. Executive producer Greg Weisman brings with him a wealth of animation experience with credits such as Young Justice, The Spectacular Spider-Man and Gargoyles.
Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said, “The entire team at Lucasfilm has provided extraordinary creativity and innovation for over three decades, and we’re thrilled to be bringing the expansive and imaginative world of Star Wars to Disney XD’s viewers.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to explore new corners of the Star Wars universe,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president, Lucasfilm. “I think Star Wars Rebels will capture the look, feel and fun that both kids and their parents love about Star Wars.”
The action-filled series is set between the events of Episode III and IV — an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen.Star Wars Rebels takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape. Details about the show are a closely guarded secret at this point.
Star Wars Rebels will be produced by Lucasfilm Animation, featuring many of the key talents that made Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Fans attending Star Wars Celebration Europe will be the first to get an exclusive look at the new series. Casting will be announced at a later date. At Star Wars Celebration VI last year, George Lucas gave fans a glimpse at the animated comedy series Star Wars Detours from Seth Green, Matthew Senreich, and Todd Grimes. Detours was conceived and produced before we decided to move forward with the new Star Wars trilogy, and in the wake of that decision, Lucasfilm has reconsidered whether launching an animated comedy prior to the launch of Episode VII makes sense. As a result, we’ve decided to postpone the release of Detours until a later date.

The shocking finale to Season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars has arrived, with major revelations that will leave characters forever changed. Ahsoka is wrongly accused for sedition and murder, and is to be prosecuted in the High Courts of the Galactic Republic by a zealous Admiral Tarkin. Seemingly abandoned, Ahsoka’s last hope lies in Anakin Skywalker, who hunts the Coruscant underworld for the real murderer in “The Wrong Jedi,” Saturday, March 2nd at 9:30am ET/PT on Cartoon Network.
This episode – the culmination of five years of development of Ahsoka Tano’s character and her relationship with Anakin – is personally helmed by Dave Filoni, who serves as episodic director in addition to being the supervising director for the series. Underscoring the significance of the finale, composer Kevin Kiner arranged an orchestral score for this episode to better resemble the full, classical score found in the Star Wars feature films.
