See the first teaser trailer for the 24th James Bond adventure SPECTRE. A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.
Traditionally, SPECTRE (SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion) has been the dark mirror image of MI6, operating in the shadows behind various villainous acts. As the new series of films starring Daniel Craig as 007 have been a reboot/prequel, this will be the introduction of SPECTRE rather than their return. Yes, it sounds hauntingly familiar to the Quantum group and probably for good reason as I suspect that group was a modern homage to SPECTRE all along. While this trailer may seem far more subdued and subtle for an action-packed Bond film, for fans of the series it is spellbinding as it implies that Bond himself has ties to SPECTRE.
Christoph Waltz (of the Tarantino film Inglorious Basterds) plays a man with ties to Bond’s childhood and also just so happens to be a high ranking member of SPECTRE. A direct sequel to Skyfall, the 24th Bond movie will delve deeper into the dark past of a character who has been familiar to millions for decades, unearthing new secrets.
SPECTRE has a 6, November 2014 release date.
