Iron Man 3 updated trailer

The third and biggest Iron Man film will take the armored avenger to new heights. Facing a for greater than any he has faced, Stark raises an Iron Legion of armor against the Mandarin in order to save not just himself but those he holds dear.

Directed by Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’s Shane Black, Iron Man 3 co-stars Sir Ben Kingsley as the evil Mandarin (a villain hinted at in the first Iron Man film), Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian, and Rebecca Hall as Maya Hansen, inventor of the Extremis viral technologythat allows Stark to interact with his armor remotely. Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Paul Bettany (voice of JARVIS), Don Cheadle (James Rhodes/War Machine/Iron Patriot) and Jon Favreau (Happy Hogan) will also return.

Rumored to be the final Iron Man solo film, this one looks like it is going to pull out all the stops.

Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

  1. I wonder… if they stop doing solo Iron Man films… would he only appear in Avengers films? OR is there a possibility of doing some team-up films… like say an Iron Man + Captain America movie, for example.

  2. The “Iron Legion” looks like it came out of a Bob Layton Iron Man page, well apart from the fact that they are all of Adi Granov’s design with the Samuel L. Jackson’s-hairline-circa-1995 metal top-piece!
The last Iron Man solo picture? Hm. The original Iron Man wasn’t bad but it *was* thin while Iron Man 2 was a smugly self-satisfied boring squib, if this has to be the last one (god-forbid they think outside the ol’ box and go for more than a trilogy, amiright?!) then let’s hope there’s more meat on the bones and a lot more imagination. Frankly you’d think they’d make at least two films to make up for the abject crappery of Shellhead 2. Heh. 😉 The trailer looks pretty good, perhaps they’ll be some actual threat this time, and maaaybeee Stark will appear like a real human being for more than a few minutes (it just occurred to me that if this *is* the last one they’ve totally blown the opportunity to adapt the drama of Demon In The Bottle to the screen. Feh. The “funny” drunk scenes in 2 don’t count).

  3. Hey, SJV, you posted while I was writing the above! If Iron Man turned up in a team-up movie I think it should be with Black Widow (altho’ she wasn’t used well in Iron Mess 2) as she was along with Bruce Banner/Hulk the best thing about Avengers. I’m not really an admirer or fan of Ms Johanssen but she was appealing and uh hot in her debut scene…

    • I’ve been hoping that somehow Marvel gets back the rights to Daredevil and can do a Daredevil + Black Widow movie. That seems like it would work well, based on the older team-up that a lot of modern fans might not be familiar with… but she fits better with the less super-duper-powered heroes and stories I think.
