If 2009 is the year of Norman Osborn, it is also the year of the Dark Avengers, the team of super villains posing as the world’s mightiest superhero team. Logan’s twisted son Daken appears to be Wolverine, the maniacal Bullseye wears Hawkeye’s quiver, the indestructible psychiatrist Moonstone masquerades as Ms. Marvel and what appears to be the black Spider-Man is actually the devious Venom.
Crazy times.

This year at the San Diego Comic Con, Art Asylum will be celebrating the chaotic times with a set of minimates exclusively sold to convention attendees. The madly addictive miniature block-figures from Diamond Select Toys’ Art Asylum have been released steadily since 2002 and have included block versions of several comic book characters in addition to movie licenses as varied as Platoon, Fistful of Dollars and Desperately Seeking Susan. Each 2 inch figure is composed of inter-changeable parts, allowing for plenty of creative opportunities, such as Madonna/Killer Croc.
The first of two sets making up the entire Dark Avengers team, the SDCC set includes Ares, the Sentry, Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel.
There will be a second set sold at Toys R Us comprising Norman Osborn in his Iron Patriot armor, Wolverine, Spider-Man and Captain Marvel.
Not able to make it to the SDCC? Action Figure Express is there for you, man.
