I have issues, I know.
The lamented Avengers United They Stand series of the 1990′s will finally be put to rest and fans will be allowed to forget the awkward animation, strange characterization and lack of any heavy hitter Avengers in the main cast as we move forward by looking backwards and glancing at the guy next to us to make sure we are on the same page.

Featuring the core team of Avengers from the Hulk to the Mighty Thor and even the shield-slinging Captain America, the latest animated series from Marvel Animation will be on the air as part of what I like to call ‘Operation: Avengers.’ As any card-carrying consumer can tell you, the hit Marvel film Iron Man closes with a teaser into the creation of a team of super heroes called the Avengers… yet who are they? The movie-going public is in a quandry over this one and Marvel is determined to sort it out.
The new animated series will further introduce Marvel‘s greatest team of heroes to the American public in such a way that it will be like Joe Six-Pack has always known that Ant-Man is Henry Pym who later became Giant Man, Goliath and Yellowjacket before ultimately being replaced by a Skrull.
Way to go, Joe Six-Pack!
Now who is Supergirl?
The new cartoon series also comes at such an opportune moment as the Avengers comics (all three monthly titles) enjoy an unprecedented level of popularity and success… and with Dan Slott taking over the writing chores of the Mighty Avengers (more on that later), there is no better time to stand in the playground and release the clarion call ‘Avengers Assemble!’… or the lunch room at work… whatever works.
The new series debuts in 2011 when we we will all ride horses to work.
