Middle Class Batman

Posted by dailypop on August 20, 2008

Like many comic book readers, I love the Batman. And yet (again like most comic book readers), I was not born into money. Tragedy I know, like the time I spent $25 dollars on a trade paperback online then found it at a convention for like $5. But the lifestyle of privilege is something that I cannot connect to.

There is finally a Batman for the middle class, thanks to artist Mike Mitchell.

Never mind the endless fundraisers, and billion dollar armored cars, this Gotham Guardian siphons gas off of his neighbors to keep his junker running, plotting revenge on the underworld in a cramped apartment using nothing more than college wide-ruled pads and his crazy mind. If DC Comics hadn’t already drained the well dry of ‘alternate Batmen,’ I’d say that this picture should spawn a one-shot special. But perhaps it’s good enough to be its own idea rather than a riff on Batman, huh?

This picture by Mike Mitchell (recently featured on G4TV), is just a glimpse of the great art that he has been producing. You may have noticed his work on Gamepro magazine and I hope to see more of it in the years to come!

Stop by his site and his shop for more fantastic art.

  1. [...] Middle Class Batman. DC seriously needs to do a storyline based on the concept. [...]
