Just released this week alongside the last issue of Aquaman and Captain America #31 are two selection well worth your time.
KNEE DEEP PRESS’s new issue of Don’t Eat the Electric Sheep, #5 is finally out. I met the creator Joe Flood at MoCCA three years back and chatted with him about his projects. He shared a beautiful full color book that he couldn’t afford to print (what was that called, Joe?) and I picked up an issue or two of DETES. It’s a very fun comic and I highly recommend it.

Alongside DETES, Joe has also worked on Hell City with Macon Blair which looks outstanding and very much in the vein of European Comics.
In the Studio: Visits with Contemporary Cartoonists
The founder of Comic Art Magazine, Todd Hignite, has assembled a treasure trove of material concerning contemporary comic book greats including R. Crumb, Jaime Hernandez, Chris Ware, Dan Clouse and Charles Burns.
The book includes interviews with some of the more reclusive artists in independent comics today along with a visit to their studios. It’s an intimate look into the lives and ‘work spaces’ of many comic creators that have helped to shape the landscape of modern comics.

In addition to reproductions of famous works, the book also includes rarely seen artwork such as the above series of sketches by Chris Ware and Dan Clouse’s Nightwing submission page sent to DC Comics in 1995… or not.
